pic request: 76 VW Junior Cup

Post by The Autoad »

Anybody got any decent close up pics of the cars of the 1976 Scirocco VW Junior Cup?

I can only find the cut away which is a poor resolution thumbnail and a few 'in the distance' shots.

thanks in advance for any gems that you may have.

This is all good stuff and useful, thanks chaps. I found another thing that I will post up, but it will need translating from German!

Yeah, a bigger version of the cut away would be really useful, but just can't find it.

I notice that each car in the cup seemed to have a different colour on the front end.

These are all I could find Ant. Some are really big scans so I just linked to them rather than losing detail and resizing for this forum.

Large version of the above pic but scanned from a two page spread, hence distorted image.

Looking at the pic of the dash, is that a kill switch that's located in the radio mounting hole? I

And it's just dawned on me, is this how ATS cup alloy wheels got their name?

Edit. Found another pic online, not detailed though.

I've translated this (with Google Translate's help):

"The "Black Power" for the VW Scirocco Junior Cup to take more definite shape. The 110HP with the strong injection engine - thanks to Bosch K-Jetronic - equipped Cup car will be provided by the company Zender body kits, front and rear spoilers, plus two Recaro special seats come with a particularly attractive stripe pattern that is repeated on the rear seats. The Grand Prix steering wheel of Petri, and a particularly complete cockpit instrumentation will break up the otherwise quite optically black interior. The only supplied in black Scirocco obtained as Safety Equipment: Matter-roll bar, Britax safety belts, fire extinguishers Heinzmann (5kg), laminated windscreen, heated rear window and safety switch. Much effort has been devoted to the chassis tuning, which is in front with a negative camber, lowered with stiffer springs and presented. While doing the front suspension with Sachs twin-tube shock absorbers, are provided remotely, rear Sachs gas pressure shock absorbers work, and they are there in support of the cross-stabilization by a 24mm high stability. As a result, together with the Pirelli tires 50 (Grand 195/50-15) mounted on the Cup cars completely redesigned ATS alloy wheels are made a neutral handling characteristics with a tendency for easy drifting, so that the Scirocco nearly free of front-drive influences - despite direct steering - remains and provides a spectacular driving style. To ensure optimum deceleration ventilated ATE brakes and engine temperatures contributed to healthy Serck oil coolers that Matter. As a sponsor money have so far for the VW Junior Cup, the Company and Castrol Sachs so dedicated that all the attractive prize money is guaranteed for eight to nine races. By the copy deadline had over 1000 people interested in the final now 15 500, - DM advertised costing Scirocco."
