Respray

Post by KindredSpirit1 »

Got a 1986 Scirocco GTX.
Need a bit of a respray (Jade Green, mainly roof) and the rear wheel arches sorted. (I can get these, hopefully).
I don't need an amateur job - its got to be right (but not over the top pricewise).
Car was Waxoiled from new and has never been welded.
Can anyone help please?

Cheers

Trish & John

Sorry to hijack the thread, just to say thanks for that link...I'm near Scarborough so I'll go and see this bodyshop about my Scirocco! Didn't know about the place 'til now!

Kim is my uncle so I've kind of gotta recommend him. :-)

I have however also had some painting and repair work done by him and can't fault it. He's been doing it forever, is an approved insurance repairer, and I will drive the 300 mile round trip every time I ever wan't anything painting rather than let anyone else near it. All I can say is have a good look round the website and most importantly go down and see the work they do, you won't be disappointed.

Ben.

Problem with spray "shops" is the lack of (as far as I know) schemes for referral...

It's not really practical to take the car to Kim in a stripped out state as it adds £180 plus straight onto the job (trailer hire and diesel).

There should be a Good Paint Scheme, bit like hte good garage scheme but for body shop repairs.

From my limited experience with paint work you can only really go off word of mouth and have a look at some of their finished jobs. Also, although you usually get what you pay for that isn't always the case. I might get some paint work done on the Audi and if I do I'll be wanting to check any work the paint shop has done on other people's cars first. I know way too many people that have been left disappointed.

Hi there- I live in the Derby area- had my mk 1 sprayed at B.Kelf in Horsley, January this year - I'm pleased with the result and you're very welcome to come and scrutinise the paintwork. This is not a recommendation as I'm no expert, although in my lowly opinion, it is a good job and I've been very happy with the previous work Kelf have done for me and would go back there in the future.
