hi all. the rocko has started playing up since last nite. i was giving it some round worcester and now she wont go under normal throttle. she will idle fine and if you put your foot down she will go like stink, but if you try to drive her normally she lurches and misses, i think there might have been a chance some craps been sucked into the carb from the tank as i was a bit low on fuel at the time. this has happened before but the problem resolved itself b4 i got chance to find out what it was. if there is crap in the carb will it be in the jets which i can get to at the top or will i have to take apart the whole carb? + whats the best way to prevent this apnin again?
cheers
james

Re: loosing power and stuttering mid throttle
Have you got crud in your engine bay fuel filter? It generally sediments at the bottom, and would give you a better idea if this is likely to be the problem. In general, the filters ought to be pretty good at stopping anything getting as far as the carb. When I was having problems with mine, markh mentioned the end of the fuel line in the tank has a selection of pinholes which will suck up bits as you drive, so might be worth checking that end too.

ok kool kool. i did ave a look at the fuel filter and couldnt really see anything in there but again there wasnt much fuel in the filter so if its blocked in the tank that would make sense. cheers edmundator

sounds like a blocked jet on the 1st stage of the carb.

Re: loosing power and stuttering mid throttle
spot on. i stripped the carb last weekend and sure enuff there was a bit of clear plastic stuck in one of the jets. purrin like a kitten now. im thinking of installing another fuel filter between the carb and the swirl pot as im really not sure where this peice of comtaminant has come from.
cheers for all your help.

The air balance pipe inside the carb disintegrated in my old GT. I'd guess that your bit of plastic is from inside the carb somewhere.
