Dash Clocks

Post by NiceOne »

Hi i have recently aquired a couple of sets of dash clocks both with about 120k on them, one of them i have never seen before so i dont know what model its off, it has the usual 2 plugs on the bottom but one of them is much smaller than the other, it only goes up to 120mph and has a vacuum mpg guage at the top where the engine temp normally is, the temp guage has been relocated in the rev counter. Does anyone know what this is worth, and is it worth me selling it

Stick some pics up and Ill try and help you figure out which are which..

Sounds like the smaller one is from an earlier Mk1 Golf Gti (presuming theyre the same shape)

Earlier clocks had the gear change indicator on the top, if it has an MFA it will be from a Storm, early GTX or GTi (1.8). The non injection GL also had the gear change indicator as well but no MFA. One thing you can look at is what colour the main beam warning light is, on early Scirocco's they were orange, my 84 Storm has a blue one.

Either from a 1.6 GTi or a GL mate.

Not always,I have an early 82 mk2 GTI 1.6i with the original clocks and it has an MFA and an orange main beam warning light.

1.6i's were not fitted with MFA's as standard, have your clocks been changed, sounds like it?

Just been reading up on it and had another look and you are quite right and I am a complete numpty  Because it has a tube that connects to the rear I thought that was part of an MFA,shows how much I know about scirocco's. I'll get me coat :bye:
