coolant sender

Post by james butler »

ive been having trouble with my temperature guage the last couple o months. whenever i go down the moterway the temp guage slowly crashes. only when i slow down to 50 or sumfin does it shoot back up. ive changed the thermostat to no avail. i tested the wiring n the wiring to and from the dash is fine.so that left me with the sender sensor. i bought a new one for 8 quid and now the temp guage is reading fine but is nearly allways hoverin around 3 quarters the way up the guage untill the fan cuts in n bring it down a bit. the car is running fine but the guage never used to sit that high. its allways been around the halfway mark. could it be the cheap nasty sender that ive bought?

ive fixed it!!! never under estimate the power of a bad earth! the wire from the fuse box that bolts to the negative battery clamp was loose n covered in crap, gave it a clean and tightened it up. it works sound now. :vcool:
