Aftermarket Gauges Help!

Hey guys, had these kicking around for a while and would like to fit them to the Golf. I'm guessing this is oil pressure...



And it's mechanical rather than electric...



So question 1, where do I buy the piping needed to fit this bad boy and where does it go? I thought it went ontop of the oil filter housing? I'm ready to be corrected tho :)

Next up is an electric temp gauge...



On the back, two wires for the light so I'm cool with those but the remaining 3 are marked positive, negative and "s". How would I connect these up to get them to work? Would like it to display water temp if that's cool.

Kinda yeah, my temp gauge is electric so no need to t-piece it

No mate, first it depends if the gauge is mechanical or electric. I think VDOs are mechanical, except for the volt meter obviously

well that depends on this--

(note you dont need the 't' piece or additional temp sender if you arent fussed whether you mfa works or not, the 't' piece just enables you to have two gauges but isnt essential.)

VDO's are electrical - at least all the ones I have seen are.

Why would you want two oil temperature gauges - one on the MFA and one clock style?

Better to fit a water temperature gauge.

I have a VDO oil pressure gauge on my Mk 1, but it is not one of the Audi gauges and I do not know why the Audi gauge set up has a relay in the wiring loom.

Maybe someone can enlighten us all on this point.

Also, I believe the best place to fit the oil pressure sender is in place of the low pressure oil switch on the side of the cylinder head, not the high pressure switch on the oil filter housing.

The relay is a slave dimmer for the bulbs. Odd setup but it takes some strain off the rest of the dash illimuntion.

Sorry to hijack this. Pete, I;ve got some Audi Guages, is there any chance you can work your magic and make the bulbs the same colour as my dash lights please and thank you?
