get the fuel pressure checked at the pump, then again at the carb. That'll let you know how much is returning to the tank. I've got my return line restricted down to (i think) 1.6mm. That sorted the fuel supply problems for me.

Re: Front to rear fuel lines vs. fuel supply
I've had another look, and there's some more crud in the fuel filter.
I'm going to get some quotes to fit the new tank and clean out the fuel system, I can't really be arsed to do it myself unless it's going to be prohibitively expensive for someone else to sort it out.

Re: Front to rear fuel lines vs. fuel supply
Ed, what kind of filter is there on the fuel pick up pipe in the tank ? If its the early type of a small brown pipe with about 8 tiny pin holes in it, that could be the problem. Thats what was happening with my blue GT, just enough crap in the tank to eventually block up these pin holes after a very short time driving, then once it cut out or stalled the lack of suction form the pump meant the crap fell away from the pin holes and the car would start again.
To cure it i got a standard inline plastic filter and cut away most of the plastic bowl, then fitted it on a piece of fuel hose in place of the original pick up filter. It still filters the fuel properly, but it doesnt clog up. Never had any problems since.
Hope that makes sense !!

Don't ask me....it was like that when i got here !

Re: Front to rear fuel lines vs. fuel supply
Thanks Mark, I think you're probably right. It's going to a garage just down the road tomorrow who've quoted me 3 hours labour to change the tank (which sounds reasonable to me), and I've asked them to clean out all the fuel lines at the same time. I'm 99% certain this is a fuelling problem and how you describe it makes a lot of sense.
