Carb options?!?!

Post by dan69 »

Hi, i've been reading through all the posts as i have a problem with my scirocco, apparently its the waxstat!?! the general idea seems to be buy a weber carb or if very good at mechanics play with the pierburg! is there any other options for a new carb thats cheaper than the weber and less complicated than a pierburg?? Cheers

I know an excellent mechanic in Chelmsford, a dab hand at carbs.

I have a used Weber for sale which is jetted for a 1.8. It has a few minor pieces missing which has been covered in a thread that I created on here (view my post history). Tis yours for £70 including postage if you want it.

That second link is mega..

the biggest challenge in bike carbs is getting a decent manifold made. But it can be done of course.

Oh, and Bogg Brothers refused to make one (manifold) for an 8v head... flat out. "Too difficult" they said... "can't be done", shame I've seen one with the same carbs as I just got this morning on an 8v head.

I'm gonna get a local fabrication company to knock one up in SS, get costs and then if it's any good (which it will be because the guy is a master with metal) I'll stick the details up. Nowq to knock up a CAD for the manifold plate using a gasket for a template...
