Drove the car 105 miles to Oxford on Tuesday this week - the car was fine.
This morning I went to start it - it didnt start first time but seemed fine.
Parked the car at the office and left it. Went back to it this afternoon and it starts and dies straight away.
I've also noticed the loud fuel pump (I think) priming noise when I turned the ignition on has gone?
Tried pulling the fuses and relay but no good. The first time I turned it over I did hear the pump but it died relatively quickly.
If it helps I parked it on a slight incline (nose down) ..
Any ideas / suggestions much appreciated! Have just cancelled the MOT I had booked for tomorrow :(

Re: Dead Fuel Pump??
Relays can be temperamental. Try a new one . they can be had brand new from GSF and ECP , about £14 i think.
If your relay is good you will hear the high pressure pump priming. The lift pump in the tank can be the culprit if the high pressure pump primes the car runs for a short time then cuts out.
Another less common problem is if the major earth at the rear of the fuse box comes loose or does not have a good connection. Drop the fuse board and you will see a multi earth point, looks like a multi pronged bottle top attached to the bracket.

Re: Dead Fuel Pump??
Cheers Duggers, Im thinking we can try the relay (£6 - £14 from gsf or ecp as you said) also try the lift pump £26 ish and then the main fuel pump which is the biggy around £100.duggers wrote:Relays can be temperamental. Will also check the fuse box although im pretty sure I can hear the relay coming on, but Lenny125 will help me diagnose tomorrow
