rs turbo recaros into a scirocco

Post by koala_plushie »

The seats in my scirocco are shot, to be fair I reckon they're a bit crap when they're at they're best anyway  I do love the recaros all the quick fords of the 80's and 90's came with though. You can pick them up cheap too, unlike a 90's VW recaro! How tricky do you reckon it would be to get them to fit into a mk2? I know the scirocco seats are pretty low.

Looking at something like this or this

Cheers

i just fit some bmw seats in to my mates polo, took about an hour cutting and welding.

i used some old polo sets as donors and welded all 3 of the runners to the bmw seat, so he has the bmw seats adjustment and the polos slide

worked really well :yup:

If you can figure it out, go for it! Remember when these bad boys went for a lot more dollar than that...

Cooooooool

Although I've now found the seats I want... and it won't matter about seat rails as the bases will need fixing to the floor... and 'lectric wires run... and they're out of a coupe too, so will have the foldy forwardness... AWESOME!!!

Rich... you may well have to make a journey to help out, lol.

Are there any non-vw seats with the same fittings or very little fettling required?

vw audi, seat, Porsche, of the 80s should be a straight fit,
vw, audi, seat of the 90s looks the same but is about a inch wider so can can easily be changed.
vw, audi, seat of later that that i have know idea on.
not sure on later porsche stuff either.
im not sure on skoda, never had anyting to do with them, i would think the 80 stuff is the same?

80s and up to mid 90s bmw seats have 4 bolts that go in to the floor, same with 90s vauxhall crap.
i was looking at a alfa 147 the other day and it also had 4 bolts in to the floor.
so with that stuff you could try and bolt it down or mod it to use vw rails, which didnt take me that long :yup:

hope that helped, if im wrong about any thing let us know

Bolting to the floor's good with me, four captive nuts welded to the chassis and fanny's your dad's brother's wife. :D

Early Mini subframes are the same... bolt to the floor, but the rears slide on the carpet.... not overly clever!!

944s bolt to the floor in the four corners, far from a straight fit, id imagine all porsches would be the same
