Weber Carb help needed.

Post by johnny778 »

Hi I inherited this carb with my new Rocco and was wondering whether anybody could help me out. I spoke to a mechanic about fitting this and he informed me that there was a couple of things missing and so it would be a difficult and costly job. I have put some pics up so you guys can have a look and see what might be needed to get it in shape to go on my Rocco. I'm just about to fit a replacement Pierburg for the time being. Cheers for any help and advice in advance.

the cynic in me reckons he's trying to get out of doing it. obviously you'll need a choke cable and you'll need to make sure the accellerator cable has the right nipple on it, but otherwise i can't think what he would be referring to. possible it may be jetted for the wrong size engine?

when I had mine fitted, we had to make a small bracket for the throttle cable, as it's sat on the other side of the carburettor and the accelerator was sticking. It's easy to do though.
You'll also need a small adaptor bracket to fix it to the manifold. A friend made mine for me.
Took a while to get mine changed over to a Weber, but it's seriously worth it.

The only things missing have already been listed, a choke cable and the throttle return spring. Dont think the mechanic fancied the job :dunno:

The carb will bolt straight to the inlet manifold as it is, no need for any adapter plate to be made up, also the carb is jetted for a 1.8 too so will be good to go on the GTS!

Hows the car tho?

Car is good but Pierburg is on its last legs. When it pulls to a stop if cuts out everytime now regardless of how long the engine has been running. Picked up a cheap Pierburg to do me until I find someone to do the Weber. Anybody know anyone good with Rocco's in South Yorkshire area?
