mk1 restore project.
i saw a real nice mk1 on the sciroccoforum.. which was ment to be a diesel scirocco..
but the owner doesn't drive a lot anymore and decided to sell it...
and there i came into the story.
he send me emailed some picture so i could place it on the dutch sciroccoforum.
HELL NO!!! i'm buying it...
i went over and looked... stunning!!! this mk1.. took my breath away...
the price, the car...marvelous...ran just over 25000miles...
and its perfect...a few little rust-spots easy to fix..
never been done before...
good part, base is good...
bad part, engine was already taken out.. and the car became more green then grey...
if i run the car properly by the end of juli then it will be coming over to the national meet.
and 2 minor dents to repair
and like they always says, it's nothing without any pictures...

Re: bought a new mk1
next weekend i will make more foto's during the progress of the car.
some specs of the car.
originally an 1.1 or 1.3 engine.. which was replaced for an 1.6GTI engine.
the former owner took it out..and now its my job to put back a nice engine.
and i have chosen for my personal favorite. DX (1.8L GTX) fuel injected.
different camshaft, exhaust manifold and group N supersprint till the end.
warm up reg and audi throttle body.
16v rear disc brakes, 8v GTI mk2 brakes in front. (so i can fit 13inch wheels)
yellow koni's front and back 4cm lower to mother earth.
16v stabilizers front & back.
and then ....................................................

Re: bought a new mk1
i've changed my mind on this car about bringing it over for the national.sander hoogendijk wrote:if i run the car properly by the end of juli then it will be coming over to the national meet.
i'll bring my other mk1...
this car will be totally redone...
because of the excellent shape of the car but with some minor rust and 2 dents i reconsidered about first taking it on the road..
now the body is from front till back hard.. only rust on the surface...if i drive it, the car can get in worse shape.
if i first do the car then it won't rust at all...
if someone can transfer this to the project section please
i've already started to clean my garage so the project can begin...

Re: bought a new mk1
today i have worked on the mk1.
starting to prepare the car for a total respray, i first need to get rid of the rust and dents.
so i started with the left front wing.. but before i could do that i had to remove the door.
because it was still the factory fitted front wing i had a struggle with the body-protection.
words don't say a thing. pictures do:

Re: bought a new mk1
now the front wing was detached i could start to remove the protection layer from the inside of the wing and see how much rust the wing contains.
it wil take some time to do it properly so be patient.
here are some before photo's:
