i have the agg in my rocco with a standard but rebuilt ex head
you will need an adapter ring and the drives swapped over on the dizzy {agg dizzy and drive are bigger} to use the standard dizzy
you will need a plate and core plug to cover the breather on the front of the block
you will need play around with the heater matrix pipe to make it mate up properly
you can use your standard gearbox and clutch it all bolts on
no need to change looms and fuseboxes/fit complex electronics
i believe it is possible to fit the whole agg if you wanted to but it is a bit more involved
as for power from what i read on forums before i did mine there isn't realy any difference whichever you do
hope this helps
why cant you use the new dissy? do you have to use the old 'en? [/quote]
you need it to run on the same setup it was on before and the agg dosen't have the vac advance on the dizzy
im running a webber carb and a standard manifold
haven't got any pics of the bay or any of the rest of the car as i don't have a digi cam but it all looks the same anyway apart from the electric fuel pump but you wont need that cos you have one allready

Also, heard that If I put a 1.8 golf head on the 2.0 block i can get power gains? is this true, also does it work with a DX head?
cheers
Yes, and you'll need to use the rocco head, as the inlet ports are a different shape. Dizzy adaptor ring and DX type dizzy is essential, unless you're converting the engine management too (and I wouldn't recommend the AGG version).

why would you not recomend the agg?
it was used in later cars after the 2e so will be a newer engine which is why i got mine instead of a 2e
i have been running one for 6 months with no probs and iv'e given it loads of abuse
I replaced my sick DX engine with an AGG out of an Audi 80. I bolted on my DX head using a steel 2ltr head gasket.
The breather system is the main difference which may cause you a problem.
I bought a 40mm core plug from my local motor factors which cured one of the problems and cut a piece of 2mm steel to shape and drilled and bolted it to the block with some sealant to blank off the other breather hole. The oil filter housing is different on the 2ltr blocks. The one from the golf 2ltr engine fits ok but if you use an Audi engine like I did you'll have to modify the front engine mount and use a shorter oil filter.
I got a local engineer to make an adaptor ring to fit the DX dizzy into the 2ltr block and I swapped the drive over.
There is a kit from TSR which contains the dizzy adaptor and the two blanking plates for the breather holes in the block, this will save you time but costs about £65 (I think)
The other problem I had was the water rail that feeds the heater. The Audi one was a different diameter and shape to the DX one. I ended up cutting and welding the Audi one and using a sleeve to mate up to the scirocco one. This has worked well with no problems.
The DX flywheel, clutch and gearbox bolt straight on to the 2ltr engine.
I ported and polished my DX head and added a Piper 270 cam and am really pleased with the results. It's smooth and torquey and very happy in traffic with no bad habits at all. It comes alive above 3000rpm amd pulls strongly up to about 6000.
This is not a huge power conversion but a cheap engine swap for anyone with a tired DX who is handy with spanners.

it sounds like you have used the abk with the filter housing at a 45 degree angle towards the engine mount
aparently the filter housing from a later passat diesel fits and points the filter stright down like the origonal one
