ahhhhh HELP! ive pulled all the loom i thought ide need and striped it to the bare needed to make it run. i have a grey wire comming from the transponder that doesnt seem to go any where, it has a brown plug on the end so i dont know whether this is an earth? i also have a brown wire from the ecu which doesnt seem to go anywhere, again this i think is an earth as its slightly thicker than the others. its starts runs for a second then cuts out every time. at first i thort it mite be coz its run out of fuel but i filled it this mornin. i think i may have accidentally killed it

ive come across some very usefull info about the imobilisers on abf lump. the transponder box has two brown (earth wires), 1 black (switched 12v live), a solid grey wire (something going to diagnostics plug mines disconnected and it runs) and a grey with white stripe (goes to ECU) it also has the black donut connected to it and u need this aswell but at least that bit dont involve cutting any wires. so now its fixed this info was courtesy of club gti.

Just to clarify... the black doughnut thing you speak of is JUST an antenna for picking up the radio signal from the immobiliser transmitter in the key fob. Means that the immobiliser can be located well away from chavs scumbags wanting to nick yer car.

Can you use the ABF engine without fitting this transponder thingi?
and if so how do you do it? Coz surely, if the immob sender is in the key, dont you need the mk3 ABF key to make it all run correctly?

ive researched this and there definately seems to be a way of doing it but it involves some reprogramming and wiring of parts in the ecu. it will cost money and time so im just sticking with whats already there and taping it all to the fuse box out of harms way.
