Great find. :good:

One thing I would do is change the oil and filter, even though it looks clean it has been in the car for the 3 years its been standing.

Good luck with the MOT.

I had a spare half hour this morning so thought i would replace the rear washer hose and just have a general look around the car.

Shiney new washer pipe all connected and workking.

The two parts of the parcel shelf are there but they have seen better days..

Had a look under the boot carpet to find what looked like an unused spare alloy complete with tool kit.

Looking at the state of the carpet it's clear to see that the previous owner's took thier dog everywhere with them in the car. Hopefully the bone under the passenger seat belonged to him..

So off to the MOT..

Heres just a few radom pictures of the car while on the ramp.

Im happy to say that it passed with no advisory.

The examiner said that he couldn't remember MOT'ing a Scirocco before and was suitably impressed with the overall condition of the car, which was nice!

After the MOT i treated it to £10 worth of new fuel and took it for a blast in the rain around the by-pass and it didn't miss a beat.

Over the weekend im hoping, weather permitting, to gut and clean the inside and get rid off the smell of fags and dogs.

That's amazing, mate. Well done. You've got the bargain of the century these. Out of interest, how did your emissions come out? My MOT guy said mine would have passed the catalytic converter rated emissions test! I was well chuffed. A greener car than a cat one! If only i got the road tax benefits to go with it.

Very nice indeed, If I was you I would be spending a few quid on sorting the area around the rear axle mounts as you will be lucky if they see the year out.

I hear what your saying. The old examiner boy did give them a right old poke and he seemed happy with them.

Maybe a splash of underseal or somthing would'nt go a miss, i think the pic's make it look worse than it is.

DONT paint underseal over rust, the rust will spread unseen under the sealant, especially if you use something like Hammerite that is thick and 'creeps' over any cracks in its surface that would be caused by rust beneath. Best thing to do is to drop the rear axle and attack the rust with a wire brush. If it stubborn surface rust a wire brush cup on a grinder will shift it. Then treat the metal with your favourite anti-rust coating and re-underseal.

If you don't fancy dropping the beam you may be able to get to the worst of the surface rust with a variety of wire brushes.

Worth doing on your pretty special mk2. Blue interior models are few and far between!

The doors cards look shot and the dash is all cracked from sitting in the sun (!) for so long, so if you know of any good condition ones i may be intrested.

Going to gut it on Saturday and give it a good clean.

Out of interest, how did your emissions come out?
CO 4.41 % Volume - Max Limit 4.50

HC 261 ppm - Max limit 1200

Not sure what that all means but i hope it's of some help.

Yous hydrocarbons are about the same as mine, your CO is about double what mine was. Interesting to know. Mine's a carb 1.8

May the CO be high due to the lack of recent use and is it possible this may drop the more the car is used?

It's also an injection engine so that may make a difference?

GTIs popping up everywhere at the minute. What sort of state is the bottom of the driver's door in? Is it just surface rust?
