for a brake conversion can you fit mk3 5 stud gti calipers onto the scirocco 4 stud hubs and change the 4 stud flange for the golfs 5 stud? or are they incompatable?

will the rear brakes fit? i know the callipers are known to fit but what do the caliper carriers bolt to on the rear beam axle?

The Calipers and carriers from a MK3 golf 16v upto 94 or 95 (before they changed to 288mm brakes) are the same as G60 ones. You can still get these calipers from vw for about £90 each or about £50 if you have any calipers to to exchange for refurbishment.
Yes mk3 Golf rear discs and calipers fit on a Scirocco with the Stub axle from one as well. Its better to get the later one tho as the earlier ones, same as Mk2 golf, are prone to Seizing.

cheers rich ile be fitting them up soon then. ive got the brake set up from a 97 golf 16valve so the front disks are prob 288mm but will measure to check.

Rear stub axles for disc brakes and drum brakes are different - the disc brake ones have mounting lugs for a brake caliper, so you'll need those. Also, the handbrake cables and flexi hoses are different. You also need a bigger master cylinder, maybe a bigger servo, and a method of regulating pressure to the rear of the car.

I don't know if you can use Mk3 stub axles. Mk2 Golf GTI ones will fit though, and you need Scirocco 16v handbrake cables.

288mm brakes are big heavy beasts, and are probably more than you need on a rocco with an ABF.

ok i will pull all of the necesary bits off. i was planning to use the master cylinder of the golf anyway for a better feel at the pedal, so it shouldnt be a problem. i was thinking of using the pressure regulator on the golfs beam axle but that may require welding in place. i will have a look and report my findings.
