non-rocco electrical weirdness

Post by fonzooorooo »

It's the polo (03 reg 9n) so I've posted on club polo about this already, but there's no reply yet, and there seem to be people on here with pretty mighty knowledge, so:

The issue manifested itself the other day. It was raining, so the front wipers were on. The rear wiper was off. Noticed that when I used the left turn indicator, the rear wiper wiped twice. They're not meant to do that!

Thought I'd ask for any ideas before I start wrestling airbags to get to the stalk switches. ... Or should I be looking at relays? earths? other?

oooh, that's a good one. think that you're probably along the right lines with removing airbags and steering wheels. i reckon it's possibly going to be a mechanical failure with the stalks, or the have just come loose

surly the rear wiper has the same earth as the rear indicator? ...does it only do two wips no matter how long the indicator is on for?

i think it only wipes twice... didn't leave the indicator on for long enough to see if it does any more...

you'd think it's the same earth... but nothing would surprise me!

might have a look at it later... depends how dark it is when it gets back home...

I was expecting your comment to be more along the lines of: "what you need is a mk2 golf!"

i'd be surprised if they share an earth - de flippen flappen muchan spreaden is on the tailgate and the lights aren't. not controlled by the same switch or relay
