Compression Test

Post by scirocogtx »

Can you tell me if around 180 psi is roughly what the compression should be on a 1.8i DX engine?

Have been told that this is a good figure if all cylinders are more or less equal.

Its a nice healthy figure!

My 16v is a nice 200psi on each cylinder so 180 is good :good:

Ok, thanks.
Was thinking I had a headgasket problem but compression test shows probably not. :)
Have had a good look and it seems that my rad is weeping.

Dry test and at open throttle, allows full air to compress. I removed fuel pump relay and fuse. 180psi (+/- 5) across all in two tests when engine warm.
