I am wanting to "tidy" up my rebuild in the bay as much as possible and this is one way of doing it, so, will the clocks "work" by doing this? Might sound bizarre, however, I'm not particularly interested in the clocks themselves, more the sensor plugging straight into an aftermarket unit, but if hte conversion will work off the bat, then I know that the direction I'm, going is not a wasted journey

OK, so not strictly speaking Scirocco... however, same gear box. 020, but uses a hall effect spped sensor (electrical) instead of cable.

distance sensor
3 pin / AAM,ADZ,ADY, AEK,AAZ,ABS, 1Y,2E,AEY, AEP,ACC,AEA
look at 1995 golf > electrical systems > dash insert / distance sensor
i used one of these with a passat dash when i did my digipants conversion
