New tyres

I need 2 new front tyres for my scirocco. The profile is 185/55/14 80H. What sort of prices am i looking at for just the tyre? Was thinking toyo proxes or is there a better tyre for my scirocco? Thanks

185/60 14 is the normal size for standard Scirocco 14" wheels. Recently I've been buying my tyres from Kwik-fit online, as you get the convenience of going to your local Kwik-fit, with prices that genuinely compete with the other internet retailers. I've just put a set of Firestones on my Golf and Bridgestone Turanza ER300s on my Scirocco. I'd recommend either.

Thanks. yeah the wheels are the 14" snowflakes. Some people are saying that continental are good as well so will look about for some prices.

Continental were voted the best tyres by Auto Express late last year, I rate them, I have them on my Audi.

well i went for the toyos in the end and just got them today. Can say they look pretty good. Just need to get them fitted.

I've got Toyos on my mk1 - great in the dry - but not so good in the wet (esp if cold) apparently.
Not that I ever drive it fast in the wet.

I see what you mean as it tends to rain or snow a lot round here but should be good in the dry.

best all rounders that have won most awards worldwide are vredestein sport. Not popular at all in this country but i've driven on them. Quiet, very grippy in all weathers and apparently better than average durability.

A mate has them on his saxo and said they were good to drive with I think its new to the market though??

Vredestein??? nah, definitely not new, I had them on my very first car ever... 20 years ago, an Austin Princess!

I agree. Amazing grip in the dry, good grip in the damp than similar tyres I've had but not that great when there's surface water, they will aquaplane easy. I'm going to try R888s next as i never drive my car in heavy rain.
