Circuit that goes dead on Starter Motor Engagement

Post by Funky Diver »

Might sound like an odd request, however, I am looking at having a solar panel trickle charger permanently installed to condition the battery when I'm not driving my rocco.

So, you can't start the engine with it connected else it blows up and causes a catastrophic hole in the time space continuum... it's either that or it just breaks. Either way I don't want to try it.

So, I'm looking for a LIVE circuit (even when the ingition is off) that switches to non-live on engagement of the start motor... and then live again after starting.

Is there one? If so which one?

Thanking you

Rich

Ahaaaaaa, thank you!! :groove: :good:

I did look earlier, however...

Relay 7 pin 2 – this is acutally x-relief so goes off during cranking - missed that one!!
Relay 2 pin 7 goes live when the starter is engaged - I was hoping not to have to use this as it'd involve a relay and would like it simples as possible :P

Wicked, life is good... holes in space time continuum averted

I have inadvertently started my car with a solar charger still attached.
No loud bangs, no increase to the ozone layer, car still starts and charger still charges.
I agree it is better to disconnect it though.

Sweet.

I'd still rather it was wired up best as possible as it is going to be a permanent fixture on my rear parcel shelf :focus:
