Smoke / steam from the Rad.

Post by Redrum »

Hi all.

I have just woken Redrum from its winter slumber and Im glad to say the car started and ran very well (as usual)

However, when I opened the bonnet I noticed there was steam or smoke coming from the radiator. It was not much but it was enough to worry me a bit. There was plenty of coolant in the reservoir so it has not leaked out or anything. I did notice the oil was a bit low too but that has not leaked either as there was no oil on the floor in the garage. Im sure this is not related though - it must have burnt it last year at some point I reckon.

Should I worry?

I'd say it's likely to be condensation on the rad evaporating off if its been stood for that long. So I wouldn't worry if coolant levels appear normal. :)

Cool, pretty much as I thought.

RR is back on the road at the end of the month so I will take it for a long blast and see what the levels are after that.

Thanks chaps :good:

if the rad is only weeping, you will probably see white furry stuff appearing were the leak is. check round all hose connections for white furr too
