rear mount bolts
Anyone know where I can get new bolts for the rear suspension mounts as one of mine must have had the nut welded on as nothing will budge it so I'm thinking about cutting it off

Re: rear mount bolts
try looking on vagcat i think that should give you the size. the order from someone like bolt & nut
i'd guess it is just a high tensile bolt.

Just a slight word of warning - I don't think stainless has the same high tensile strength and I have been told is not advisable in stressed situations.Vonlard wrote:got some stainless on there way. thanks for the info cant believe I hadn't come across vag cat before

Re: rear mount bolts
well I hope they hold up till I get the chance to pull the car off the road for the full repaint/stripdown as I hate having to bum a lift to work when I can have an hour extra in bed then overtake everyone else on the M25.

Re: rear mount bolts
Don't use stainless.
The bottom suspension bolts are high tensile, from memory something like 12.* rather than the standard 8.8

so they are gonna have to do for the mot till I can get some 12's Just means no thrashing till then.
If anyone knows of any good suppliers please let me know as I have to put everything back together by sunday

Re: rear mount bolts
Wouldn't worry too much, I've been running the lesser bolts in 2 of mine for years.

Re: rear mount bolts
You could always get new ones from VW.

Re: rear mount bolts
Tried the bolts in the bushes and there is some play so have some on their way from vw for the same price as the stainless.

Re: rear mount bolts
Just to let everyone know VW have discontinued these bolts now. Wish I went to pick them up earlier rather than wait till the powder coating was done to find out I need to look somewhere else.
