10/40 = cool?

10/40 = cool?

hey, im just trying to find a general concensus as to which grade oil is best, lots seem to say 10/40, some 15/40, but some disaagree with both........?? whats the deal? also any fave brands? im runnin a 1800 weber carbed gt2

15W40 Mineral, its what they were designed to run on so why use anything else???

I'd use the Quantum Synta Silver 10w40 semi synthetic.

Your tappets will benefit first thing in the morning and at £8 per 5 litres from VW, nothing beats it for VFM.

I've put in Mobil Super S 10w/40 5L Semi-synthetic. Sounds good when started, no tapping and runs nicely. If you change the oil - you would benefit from changing the plugs at the same time.

My advice is spend money on good oil and avoid the cheap stuff.

I use whatever GSF send me, because it's cheap and usually good stuff (e.g. Quantum).

I use GTX high milage, its now at 170k, change oil and filter at 3000k and up to now she not complained thats the rocco I mean, :training:

Been running mine on Duckhams 15/40 last 3years.........use it on all my VWs :yup:
