only one i am aware of is fitted to the 16v car owned by Heather over on sciroccoworld - tray was apparenly one of several accessories added by original owner in Germany incl digital dash.

i thought about making one (in two/three halfs) but never got round to it... another one of "those" jobs!!!

...shouldn't be that hard to do realy, make a cardboard one first, then set to with a sheet of aluminium?

My (ex)rally car has a sump guard if that counts? Bit heavy though and makes oil changes etc a pain

I'm fairly sure a front undertray was an original factory fit option

I have the German exploded parts book for the Scirocco and it shows an undertray there as an optional accessory

Book is not to hand at the moment but i will look it up when i get a chance after Christmas

If you mean a sump guard, then there was one available as an expensive optional extra.

If you mean a cover over the top of the engine, then like Sean, I am not aware of one other than Heather's.

Just my opinion but the Scirocco was designed not to have an undertray so I was thinking that by fitting one it may overheat the engine?

i'm thinking undertray Pete - similar to what a lot of moderns have these days - apparantley.

assume its meant to contribute to fuel economy at highway speed and/or to keep engine bay clean.

I assume you are not saying it's not completely original VAG? :swoon:

Brunty: I would be interested in seeing any pictures of the sump guard you may have please :ok:

Thanks for the pics...

Rallying? Ooh no - far to mucky business for my liking

It's just my (ex-Jetfire) '82 16v is going to have to be used for my work, which involves driving down railway access tracks and lanes and such like, and the last Rocco is used sustained a bit of a battering underneath, though never as serious as puncturing sump though I think it might have been a bit close on occasion.

I assume that's at least 6mm ali? Have seen some Pug ones made out of 10mm!

Yes, it will be about 6mm ally. It's a lot heavier than you'd think!

Reason im after one is my new engine is a 20v turbo, and the engine has lots of chrome!

Keeping it clean wont be easy, but the undertray will help..
