My foglights don't work. I had water in the fusebox but now I've fixed the leak, dried it out, replaced the relays and fuses. Thought it must be the relay causing the problem but apparently not.
Any ideas please?
None of the foglights work, and the dashboard foglights indicator doesn't light up either, so it doesn't look like it's the bulbs.
MOT retest on Friday- help! Please!

Re: Foglights
Just take the fog lights off the car, remove the front bumper and you will see the brackets holding them on, will get you through your MOT at least.

Re: Foglights
I don't think the front foglights are tested at the MoT.

Re: Foglights
It failed on the rear fog light and the dashboard indicator, so I guess those are the ones that they test. I've enlisted some help tomorrow to bodge a direct connection from the switch to get me through the MOT but will need to work out why they're not working at some point, and do the job properly.

Re: Foglights
As the edmundator says, the front foglights are not part of the MOT, and it therefore does not matter whether they are on the car or not. However, the indicator light in the switch must work when the rear foglight is on. There should be a small bulb in the switch.

Re: Foglights
Is the single fuse on top of the fuse box ok? This one is for the rear fog lamp. I think the indicator light should still work if this fuse has blown, worth checking though. :)
Does the grey/yellow wire to the switch have 12v on it with the ignition and sidelights on? Haynes says it should assuming that the foglamp relay is switching on. The foglamp relay itself is supplied power from the X contact relief relay (I haven't got around to figuring out what else it supplies yet.) but you should get 12v at pin number 2 on the fuse box for the fog relay (number on relay itself is 30). If you do, try bridging pins 2 and 3 on fuse box for fog relay, do you then get a working fog lamp?

Re: Foglights
Thanks, I'll check that stuff out later today. I'm wondering whether the fusebox contacts have corroded- the pins on the relays were very rusty so I guess the sockets on the fusebox could be in bad shape too. The ones for the foglight relay and the x contact relief relay were in the direct path of the water so I'm probably going to swap the fusebox at some point (hoping that the heater and the rear wipers start working again then as well)
Thanks guys

Re: Foglights
So I tested everything and it looks as though the fusebox is the culprit. Rigged up a connection directly from the battery to the foglights switch to get through the MOT today. Fingers crossed it doesn't fuse half way through the test. New fusebox is the next step.
Thanks everyone for the advice
