Electric windows...Why have them

Post by christhemann »

Hiya,

I'm really starting to lose faith in the rocco now. You know when you've fixed one thing, another breaks, and again and again....etc.
Pushing it over a large cliff sounds tempting right now.
Done radiator, water pump, thermostat. Then the alternator decided to break at the same time!
Just so many little things one after the other.
Then the driver side central locking broke (aftermarket) so took door panel off and replaced the solenoid. Seemed ok.

Passenger electric window was playing up, getting slower and slower so I decided to investigate.
Turns out the motor / regulator has been hanging loose for ages (thats what the knocking sound was!) thanks to some rubbish
rubber mounting bolts that all broke together leaving it hanging.
I got some new bolts and rubber washers and fixed it in place, soon as I pressed the switch it whirred and moaned, then gave up the ghost completely! :ire:
Looks like the wire has pulled off and probably got chewed up inside the motor (happened on my mums polo once).

Anyone have any experience with the elec window mechanisms, or wanna lend a hand for some beer? Really fed up with it.
I assume I need a new passenger window motor, and if i'm right these are like hens teeth ?? If anyones got one, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.
Chris

I tried sorting mine and gave up. I think when i eventually get round to respaying my car I'm gonna put some doors on with manual windows.
