Getting the revcounter to work with Diesel power?!

Post by MJK 24 »

For my sins I'm going from 112bhp to the mighty 55bhp offered by the Caddy 1.6 diesel engine!

How can I get the revcounter to work with my new engine?

Many thanks in advance for any advice offered.

i believe that older diesels used to have a sensor on the alternator that worked the rev counter. more modern diesels would just take a pulse from the CPS

When I had a Mk1 golf diesel I did not need a rev counter as the engine was SO noisy you could hear when to change gear even over the radio!
