Ive just been out for a drive in my GTX and there was one point when I was driving and tried to change gear it stiffened up and I couldnt change gear. I pulled over and had a look but couldnt see anything. So I turned the engine off and gave it a couple minutes to sit. Whilst it was off I tried to depress the clutch and it only went down about a quarter of the way. I started the engine again and depressed the clutch and it went down to the floor and i could engage gears again. I drove home and it did the same again as i pulled onto the drive.
I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and how they sorted it.

Re: Clutch getting stiff and then going back to normal
Try narrowing the fault down mate.
Both my Sciroccos had horrible clutches when I bought them, firstly I tried adjusting them, then new cables and repair plates.
Fortunately I haven't had to change the clutch on either!
My Scala had in the past had the clutch cable fitted incorrectly, it was routed wrong in the engine bay, so after fitting a new cable correctly and a repair plate as a precaution it is now spot on.

Re: Clutch getting stiff and then going back to normal
Its had a new cable and it looks like its already had a repair plate fitted. I did notice that when the clutch pedal went stiff there was about 2mm gap under the adjusting plate that sits on the gearbox before it goes to the release arm. Could this be the problem.

Re: Clutch getting stiff and then going back to normal
check the cable and release arm is not catchin on the gearbox. i changed the cable once and the parts that hold the gearbox end in place, moved and got stuck. cable mite also be fraying inside the outer cable and getting stuck? if its a very cheap new cable i find they disintergrate very quickly. if its not the cable or the pedal then its likely to be the clutch or integral part of the gearbox(release arm pushrod or even release bearing)
I dont mind project cars but I HATE SANDING!!!
