Running a bit warm

I have noticed since getting the Rocco back on the road she seems to be running a lttle warm. The needle normally sits just to the right of the LED warning light, but moves to the position shown in the pick when I'm driving around town etc. The light has never flashed, and it hasn't gone any higher than is shown in the pick.

The fan is working fine, in fact I suspect that it's working overtime. I have changed the thermostat as I couldn't remember when it was last changed (if ever), flushed the system till the water ran clean and replaced the coolant with good old G12. Water seems to be pumping well, as you can see it coming back into the Reservoir with the cap off.

Has anyone got an idea what to change next?

Radiator cap? Is only a few quid so is a cheap option to consider which may cause problems before you look at somehting else.

im having exact same problems, and done exactly all the same things as you but still sits just that bit too much over the middle that id like

apparantly you can measure the flow coming back into the tank and that will tell you if the pump is working as well as it should be. Apparantly they get rust on the impellors and this makes them less efficient.

radiator blocked? check it for cool spots - just be careful of the fan! how did you flush it? just with clean water, or did you run it for a few days with a flushing agent (washing powder) in it?

is the outside of the rad free from obstructions?

To flush it I ran it for a about 20 mins with some of the wynns engine flush in the coolant. I then ran the system through with clean water. I didn't take the top hose off the rad and run it through though, but I did stick the hose up in the bottom hose of the rad and keep doing it till the water ran clear again. Can't see any obstructions around the rad.

Well I seem to have sorted it, by a random turn of events. I was driving home last Sat and my fan belt snapped , quick pit stop to fit the spare I had in the boot (only put it in two days before! ). Now the car seems to be running at the proper temp, with the temp gauge sitting pretty much vertical.

that's a bit random! wonder if the thermostat was sticking a bit and the extra warmth from running without the water pump spinning has freed it off

I agree - if the pumps going round, the pumps going round?

Was the belt squealing at all prior to it snapping? Even then it would still be turning?

I'd had the odd squeak and tightened it up a couple of times. Only thing I can think is that is was slipping but just not making any noise. I'm as baffled as anyone, but happy that it seems to have sorted itself out.

As soon as it went I pulled into a pub car part to change (they had some nice lights) as I knew that I had the spare in the boot, so I didn't travel any distance with it not spinning.

i had the exact same thing, i was travelling down the motorway for over 20miles and the temp was just above the white section, as soon as i came off the motorway and sat in traffic it went to the exact point yours had. Just the same no red light and kept going up and down. i know the rad fan is working so il have to do some research
