Broke down :(
Not serious luckily - clutch cable pulled through the bulkhead...for the second time this year. But the nice RAC man towed me all the way from Guildford to Winchester. Looks like I'm going to have to fix it properly this time though. Anyone know what the part number for the repair kit that GSF do is? I couldn't find it anywhere.
Cheers.
Cheers.

Re: Broke down :(
Hey Bud Euro Car Parts do them part no. 640440011 (its the mk1 golf plate which needs to be cut down, but its 10 times better than the scirocco plate that gsf used to do apparently).

Cheers for that. My local doesn't have one in stock so I think I'll just make a plate...

Re: Broke down :(
Turns out the bulkhead repair is sound and it's the clutch cable that snapped

Re: Broke down :(
would the saving in fuel you'd make by taking it out pay for breakdown cover?whatalotafun wrote:also carry... a toolbox that lowers the rear suspension my an inch when i put it in the boot.
Re: Broke down :(
i did wonder that myself, but when you think that i have used the tool kit 3 times this week, all on other peoples cars, i'd say that it's worth while keeping it in the boot.Nate wrote:would the saving in fuel you'd make by taking it out pay for breakdown cover?whatalotafun wrote:also carry... a toolbox that lowers the rear suspension my an inch when i put it in the boot.
how would i help people out?

Re: Broke down :(
is the money you get for using it paying for the fuel? i used to always have a full toolkit in the boot, but decided it just wasn't worth the hassle. i now do very little to my own car, prefering to save getting oily for when someone is paying me. mind you, i do spend all my working life playing with oily things...
