rocco heater question

Post by whatalotafun »

when the car is heated up nicely i leave the heater settings alone, but for some reason when i go round a roundabout or hard right corner, the heat increases (air comes out hotter) for a bit. the car cab suddenly heats up

why?

got to be cooling related i would of thought? change of direction could be swilling the coolant around and dislodging any build up of minor blockages??

Or - is the blower switched on or off when it occurs? if off then it could be related to when going round a corner, in theory slower, the natural air flow through the side vents, where cool air come from, is disturbed?

it's with the heater on "1" (i don't use "2" or "3") the heater goes from blowing out hot air to blowing out BLOODY HOT air.

could it be a water pump issue?

water temp remains at a constant temp (needle points straight up)

what sort of condition is the valve for the water flow thru the heater matrix?

could be part of the heater assembly is loose so it isn't chanelling all the air thru the matrix most of the time?

could just be a glitch in the matrix i suppose. arf.

on one of the pipes that goes into the cabin in the engine bay. from memory it's above the g'box at the back of the engine bay.

that valve must be fine, cos i don't get no heat when i turn the heat off, this problem only occurs when the heaters are on middle to full heat

could an inefficient water pump cause this problem?

Does you temperature gauge sit higher than normal or the car suffer from overheating in general? If not then i would say the pump is fine. I've noticed that on my car on some fast roundabouts i get hit by hotter air from the dash vents, I've put it down to the way the air is being moved about the car while cornering hard and the fact that i'll be sliding gently towards the airstream coming out the dash vents.

thats what i originally put it down to, the car never overheats and the needle sits pointing straight up (at the red light) then when the needle passes the red light the fan cuts in.

is that normal?

my ex and dx cars behave like that temp gauge wise - fan usually kicks in at about two-thirds. all pretty normal.

kr runs a little bit warmer but is running an 8v rad.

my car has allways done this. i think gtextra is correct in that cooler coolant is denser than the hot coolant causing it to swill around the egnigine bay hoses. ive never botherd to do anything about it and hasnt done anyharm up to date.but it is alarming when you go round a corner and the temp changes, lol. sounds like the fan and temp guage is behaving normally.
