I'm trying to find the speed sensor on my gearbox, after reading a thread on my MFA on here it could be my speed sensor, my MPG, average speed and miles don't allways work some days they do for a few miles then stop or it will not work at all.
On thing its on my Mk1 Golf cabriolet 1988 with a ACD gearbox, I've looked for a wire coming off it, the only things I can find is the reversing switch and the speedo cable.
Anyone know where it sould be?

I have the exact same problem and replaced the speed sensor on the back of my clocks - see pics here http://www.sciroccoregisterforum.co.uk/ ... f=11&t=404mark1gls wrote:I'm trying to find the speed sensor on my gearbox, after reading a thread on my MFA on here it could be my speed sensor, my MPG, average speed and miles don't allways work some days they do for a few miles then stop or it will not work at all.

It worked for a while but now its gone funny again - I think my PCB board is shot though - try a different set of known working clocks to see if this fixes your issue?

Re: Speed sensor for MFA
Thanks for the reply bluestreak56 so I'm looking in the wrong place for the speed sensor, explains why I cant find it!
They are expensive new from VW so will have to think about what I'm going to do, might just try to clean the contacts and hope that works, the MPG etc works 80% of the time.
