Ignition
Whilst driving home last night, my storm broke down, the RAC man had to hot wire the car to get me home, he said the ignition switch is broken/burnt, but I can't seem to to a switch of sorts, it more of connection block, I don't think just changing this will sort the problem, as something must have caused the wire to burn! Hope this is descriptive enough, anyone had this happen to them?

Re: Ignition
the ignition switch went dodgy on the scala. if i had my main bunch of keys (huge!) it would cut out over bumps, but with the spare key (key, blipper and nothing else) it was fine.
pull the steering wheel and stalks off, then remove the steering lock housing. you'll see a single X-head screw that hold the switch in. have a looky at the exploded pictures on vagcat, might help you get your head round it better than i can explain

Really useful if you're like me and forget to take photos of stuff while you're taking it apart
