Post by scratchfree »

I've found a cheap re-built mk3 golf 2.0 8v engine been stripped repainted etc without gearbox for £40 will it fit in a mk2 86 scirocco with auto box?! Or would I have to go manual?! Cheers

use your existing flywheel and bolt it straight in. use rocco exhaust manifold and downpipe. i tried to fit a 4 branch to the 2E i put in my scala but couldn't get it to clear the steering rack.

mine came from a passat and had digipants injection, which i swapped across too.

should run on your carb ok if you get it tuned, quite a nice torquey engine for an autobox!

i never read that engine conversion info before, what a great service! anybody want to do a diesel engine conversion guide? im looking at a 1995 passat 1.9td engine and wanted to know if it needs any extra silly electronics or if its the simple pump like the older 1.6td. cheers

it *probably* has an immobiliser that will kill the pump. does it have a chip in the key? how many wires go to the pump?

i have wondered if you could get round the problem by removing the centre fro the stop solenoid and fitting another one somewhere else. never tried it though, so couldn't say if it'd work...
