Taken from an ad on Pistonheads at the moment, I presume this bit of text is entirely made-up, with no foundation in reality:
The GTS was an interim version brought in before the later GTII models. More of a late Mark 1 than a Mark 2. This particular one is allegedly 1 of only 6 UK RHD models. VW made 250 of this particular specification to enter the Scirocco as a touring stage rally car contender against the Audi Quatro! The car is apparently slightly wider / longer. Not a problem unless you damage a front wing or the bonnet! Otherwise all other parts are standard.
I can't think of any points there that I can agree with.
phase one GTS in this market was a limited run (target was i think 750) 1.8 carbed/5 speed/gti shape seats ltd run that in effect plugged the gap between the 1.6gt and the gtx once the gtl had been dropped for the 86 model year. this is one of those.
the later p wheel/colour kit edition - see mark h project DARE - ones appeared in late 86 if i recall correctly and again acted as a limited run stepping stone between gt and gtx.
How can it be more of a mk1, by the time this car came off the line mk2s had already been in production for 4 or 5 years ? Somebodys got their wires badly crossed !!
Don't ask me....it was like that when i got here !
Can then someone please clarify. I have a 1985 "c" Reg Alpine White 1.8 carb with full service history and all MOT's. Now reading 30k miles with 1 owner. Are you saying only 750 of these came to the UK????

there was certainly an intended target of 750 cars in each phase, whether they sold that many is debatable.

Even if that is the case, please don't expect it to be worth more than any other 1.8 carb Scirocco. People often confuse rarity with desirability, and think that a rare car is inherently valuable. Being one owner, low mileage and FSH does, however, give it a head start, but a GTII or 1.8 GT in the same condition would be worth as much.

Yea your right. Probably thought I was on to more of a winner than I already have. You seen lots of cars on site that have loads of MODS but I feel the best way to show them off in their true light is to keep them original.
A guy I know over here managed to get a white 1owner GTS recently, good motor but needs a bit done. It's the only 1 I've even seen over here, I thought it was basically an 1.8Gt with nicer seats and single lamps??
