Post by bwilliams »

Hi hi everyone,

I changed the thermostat today and the rubber gasket seal thing. Well ive taken the little bugger off 3 times now and put it back together and i cant seem to stop it leaking slightly.

Any tips or doing this as i cant get the bolts any tighter !?

thanks

make sure the housing is clean and not cracked. if all else fails, smear the seal with LS-X an that'll stop it leaking guaranteed. works well on weeping hoses too - just a little smear round th inside before you fit it. just make sure you give it an hour or two before running the engine, so it can set before the system pressurises. the great thing abut it is that you don' have to worry about getting everything perfectly dry before you use it as water helps it set :-)

what's LS-X? ive got a coolant leak somewhere and think it may just be vapourising from the ends of a couple of hoses even though they're clamped on.
