Any Tips for Moving that Bloomin Piston....

Right, Im putting new discs and pads on the rocco but can I hell get that piston to move back to refit the calipers....

I'v removed the cap from the fluid resivoir but the piston just wont move. The car has been off the road for some time before I got her but still thought I woul dget it to move.....Really dont fancy trying to release the bleed nipple as looks well and truely stuck. If cant move it guess the old discs n pads are going on and that will be another job for my mates garage to do.

So any words of wisdom please coz most of my recent words have been x rated.........

Try a block of wood on the piston, one on the back of the caliper so as not to damage it, and then tighten a G cramp over it.

However, if the piston is that stuck and you cannot get it to move smoothly in and out, I would suggest you change the caliper because the brakes will not work efficiently.

Don't take chances with dodgy brakes.

Thanks for that, its def worth a try. If it doesnt move I will leave it to my mates to check and replace if need to.

Like you say its brakes so prob best to replace, not too expensive I guess.

There going to be a few thing I have to get me mechanic to do espoecially as the car has been off the road for a year......

A decent garage in Newcastle, Addington Motors in Walker 0191 2761900, I've known and used them for 20 years, top place.

Well I going to try the pistons with a clamp and if no joy will look at replacements.

Does anyone know a good source as Euro/GSF dont seem to list them online....is it a dealer part for the 8v 1.8inj??

Cheers for the tip on the garage but of one the lads from golf club has his own place on the team valley and hes good and very well priced. I've already tipped him off about the new scirocco and hes expecting to finish the jobs I have started.....

GSF do exchange replacement calipers. You may have to speak direct to a branch though, bearing in mind that they will want a deposit until you can take the old caliper back.

Managed to borrow a rewind tool so later in the week will be giving it another go....no movement = new calipers....

I normally prise mine back with a screwdriver. What method are you using to try and move it?

Was trying to push back with a short metal bar. Weather permitting trying the wind back tool tomorrow so should get them going.

also going to get the back wheels and arch lining off to check the filler pipe as not had chance to check since buying the car....fingers crossed its as clean as the rest of the car.

I lever them back using a long screwdriver whilst the caliper is still on the caliper carrier.

Woo Hoo...success at last........

Use my wind back tool, bit of lube and the caliper pistons pushed back no probs. So new discs and pads fitted. Pics up later.

If anyone local to me, Gateshead, has the same trouble happy to loan the wind back tool out.
