Crappiest Car I have driven!!!!!!!!
Due to the poor circumstances of Markie H and a Chevrolet Aveo thought this would make a great topic
Not that I am trying to tell EVERYONE what he is driving about in lately (cough cough)
pics an added bonus guy and gals!
For me and the average 8 months ownership I normally have, it has to be my old F reg Citreon C15 white van which had a pick'n'mix gearbox and 5th was where 1st was and you had to push down to get 1st and reverse was getting out and pushing 135,000 miles on it before I got it
was known as the company punishment vehicle! and bloody slow! sunglasses a neccesity! did not want to be recognised in it.
never christened that vehicle funnily enough!
believe we shall have some real crackers on this topic!

Re: Crappiest Car I have driven!!!!!!!!
The worst car I have ever had was a Honda Civic coupe, it was a company car and totally shite. 35k miles and the exhaust fell in half going north on the M6 to Carlisle, the lecky windows stuck in the down position whilst parking at Teeside Airport, just left it as I had a flight to catch, came back and it was soaking after 7 days of wind and rain!!!

Re: Crappiest Car I have driven!!!!!!!!
depends how you define worst i suppose. the worst to drive is proably a nissan sunny. not that is was a bad car, it was just soul-less and bland with a feint smell of wee.
the worst car build wise has got to be a modern chrysler. some of the suspension "design" is enough to make a grown man cry
the worst to drive that i've owned was probably my old knackered citroen bx. fortunately though i put it into a hedge after just 1 week of ownership and that was the end of that.
and worst on fuel was my 1982 volvo 245, which averaged an astounding 12mpg

Re: Crappiest Car I have driven!!!!!!!!
in a previous life, about 20 years ago, i had access to various company pool/directors cars.
have to say that an early 'scorpio' shape 1.8 Granada was about the most depressing - highlight was an x pack trim end of line Granada Ghia 2.8 i estate.
78 Celica and a 74 Alfetta in Perth back in '93/94 were both pretty crap too - more to do with lack of maintenance in the case of the otherwise entertaining Alfa, nearly had a Hammond/'Oliver the Opel' moment with that old thing. just remembered the Nissan Pulsar (early 90's Sunny equivalent) i drove all over WA too that year. wish i hadn't.

Worst I have ever driven in my short-ish driving career would be a Pug 106, closely followed by a Volvo 340. Both hatefull pathetic uninspiring petrol wasters....

Re: Crappiest Car I have driven!!!!!!!!
Has to be french, everything in wrong place, awkward and drive like pooh! I hate them i hate them ....... i hate them i hate them. Their electrics where designed to be used in a vacuum and not any country that experiences more than 3mm of rain annually and i'm convinced that the factory workers place all trip on with chewing gum or bluetack as it falls off at the slightest hint of a breeze.
Any German car I ever drove was lovely and just fell straight in, effortless and everything where it should be, most bristish cars the same (Rover/Ford/Vauxhall) would have to say Nissan etc so reliably average that they bore me, but great cars......... altho my ma had an 04 Micra which had to rate with the most irrating piles of pooh (must have been the renault influence!!) I've had the mispleasure of driving!!!!!
Dad had a 92 Sunny from new for 14or 15years, incredible car which he only sold due to it needing welded. In all that time aside from an annual service, brake pads/shoes only needed a back box (after 10years) and a battery (after12years!!). Hated driving it though until shortly before he sold it, by which stage it had a coolness about the fact it was so reliable and I used to enjoy tarting it up every year for MOT. Replaced it was an Almera which seems to be exactly the same

I had a Chevrolet kalos hire car in Ireland. It was truly shit and had no endearing idiosyncratic charms to make up for it. There was nothing terribly bad about it, it was just utterly bland and very cheaply constructed.

Fiat Punto. Bloody awful things. Do not have a good thing to say about them. Good news is the fact that they are all dissapearing from our roads with head gasket failure. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Re: Crappiest Car I have driven!!!!!!!!
I would have loved to have gone on about how massively cack the company poon wagon is but I really can't. It's death defyingly underpowered, the turbo lag is frankly hysterical and, worse even than the fact that it's a fapping vauxhall, I'm paying £25 sterling a month for the privilidge.
On the upside the stereo is quite good and it makes me enjoy the rocco.
I also drove grooves poogeut 205 once. It was predictably vile.

Re: Crappiest Car I have driven!!!!!!!!
Despite the overwhelming dislike of french cars here i have to say i am a bit of a fan.
The 205 GTi is a beleter. Admittedly, you cant hear the stereo for the rattles and squeaks of all the plastic and the sound of bits of car falling off, its a joke to work on as it was designed by the French and to them common sense is a unknown concept, but it is brilliant to drive.
I really like Xantia's too and keep hankering after a Xantia Activa, as despite never driving one they are meant to have better roadholding than a Handa NSX, and this on skinny road tyres. Plus they are a proper sleeper, as they just look like a normal Xantia. Problem is again, working on them. Well beyond the abilities of a mortal human. Need, not just a Citroen specialist, but an Xantia Activa specialist.

Re: Crappiest Car I have driven!!!!!!!!
I happen to rather like French cars too, well, Citroens at least. Before they just started churning out rebadged Peugeots, Citroen made some of the most advanced and forward-thinking cars on the road, that looked amazing and like nothing else. This started with the Traction Avant, which was front-wheel drive on a monocoque construction... in the 30s. I always snigger to myself when new car manufacturers talk about amazing new ideas like headlights that turn to follow where you're going... Citroen DS, 1967. The hydropneumatic suspension is ace and it's a shame you only get it on more expensive C5 models these days. I used to have a Xantia, which I had for 4 years and covered 60k fairly trouble-free miles. I'd love a C6, if I had room for it.SCOTMCDOT wrote:Despite the overwhelming dislike of french cars here i have to say i am a bit of a fan.
