Regarding the 16v conversion i was told at Bristol Volksfest by a chap with a minters white one told me that it wasn't just a case of plug and play. YES IT WAS!!!!
But the trick is that you need to use the loom out of an early mk2 16v, as later mk2's wiring loom is im told is linked into things like the headlights etc. Now i cant comment on it if your using the mechanical injection system, so i have no idea how hard that would be to fit.
The car is nearly running pucker, just needs the fueling adjusted as its running too rich atm. But sounds the dogs nuts, (illl put up a video)
The manifold was custom made, i can have my friend produce more if anyone is interested but its a few evenings work but the cost is half the amount bogg bros charge.
Other changes are the accelerater cable with a bike gear change cable to fit in the throttle bracket, and 4 branch manifold, and the alternator needs the amounting arm to be extended to make it travel further from the engine, and replace the belt with one from i think i bought a hyundai pony.
Thats great, thanks for the info! Def food for thought.... what engine did it have before as ive got a 1.6 GT with a whopping 75ish horses under the hood... haha
it a gt2 and had the 1.8 8v, ohhh 75bhp nice, lol. Im quite happy to given any advice needed, i confess im no expert, i didnt even know how to do an oil change 2 years back, and had never changed an engine let alone a conversion before, but its running and nothing has fallen off yet,
The alternator needed moving as the carbs would foul it if not moved down slightly. Also the water pipe coming out the front of the engine needs chopping and ally welded back pointing down more, again so it doesnt foul the carbs
Ahh nice, MPG wise its not a major concern of mine as my main car is an xj8 so its only my play thing.
Power wise im not going to spectulate till ive had it rolling roaded and fuel adjusted.
Yeah its relativly straight forward. Just the manifold is the tricky bit but i can supply that. Like i said in an earlier reply i didnt know sod all 2 years back and now ive managed this.
Speed wise its faster than the 8v but its got alot more to give.
