lowered, wheel 'clicking'

Post by manox »

I lowered my car last week by about 70mm, i now get a tapping or clicking noise from the rear passenger side wheel.... (pretty sure its coming from there, def psg side). It becomes apparent after 10mph, Any ideas?!?!
Thanks in advance!

Did you use the same wheel bolts as before? Sometime they can catch on the shoe inside the drum..That wouldn't really have anything to do with the height of the car though..

Nail in the tyre? Wheel catching on the strut? A twig stuck in the spokes? lol

Hi,

This sounds like a problem i encountered once.
It ended up being the handbrake cable which was catching the inside of the wheel rim every rotation.
I think there was a wheel weight on the inside edge of the wheel rim catching each turn and seams to show up more after the car was lowered.
This was cured with a cable tie to pull the handbrake cable in tighter to the rear beam.
It may be worth checking this on your car.

Cheers Graham

jack up each wheel in turn and spin them by hand. listen for any noise and check to see if they're fouling on anything. also have a good look to see if there's anything stuck in the tyre tread

Yeah it was the brake lines rubbing the wheel weights, good call guys! Managed to bend the line mounts round to keep them out of way, but will get some wheel spacers soon.
Thanks peeps

wheel spacers? why?

...i'd alway shy away cause of the extra loading on the rear bearings

...i can flog you a set(10mm), plus longer bolts for £20!!!
