the whole lot is bolted on the inside of the car. There are 4, 13mm nuts on the passenger side of the bulkhead to the left of the heater on the inside.
then the is 3 i think on the drivers side just above the pedels.
Once undont is a case of a few shakes and it should come free..
Well, its loose and shakes. But the way the bolts are it doesn't have the movement to clear them as they oppose each other. The welded brace on the top left (under the main brace) is the problem.
I had the same problem when i was welding the bulkhead.
To get this off on the drivers side i had to remove the pedal box and steering colum which pulls the bolts through the bulkhead and then the brake brace will come off
Its was an utter pain. Refitting was even more difficult and requires 2 people

Done that, but still wont budge.
The bolts on the bulkhead stop it moving up, the bolts under the brace stop it going left/right/forward. The welded metal brace which is welded to the strut stops it going down. Without cutting/bendinge something it wont budge!
Ok - on mine when i took the steering coloumn and pedal box out of the car - had to seperate the UJ as well - because the bulkhead bolts are fixed in the pedal box they came through meaning i could just lift the brace out
This shows it out and the holes where the bolts come through from the pedal box plus the central hole for the brake linkage
From inside, you can just see the steering UJ and the holes where the pedal box goes
