I have been mulling over reverting to an original Pierburg 2e2 carburettor on my GTII Automatic which was “upgraded” to a Weber by a previous owner. However, I have struggled to find any definitive information on the correct part numbers. I eventually found this on a German site and so am reproducing it here in case it is of use to anyone, and so that I can find it again more easily in the future.
027 129 015 EX
027 129 015A EX Automatic
027 129 015G EW
027 129 016G EW Automatic
027 129 016H RE
027 129 016P RE Automatic
Where the engine codes represent
EX 1800, 90HP
EW 1600, 75HP
RE 1600, 72HP

Re: Pierburg Part Numbers
Good on you - the Pierburg 2E2 is a fantastic piece of mechanical engineering if working correctly.
The data you found on the German site probably relates to early Mk2s as I think the EX engine was dropped quite early in Germany due to stricter emissions standards than the UK.
I have a Pierburg datasheet for EX engines built from January 1985. This gives the factory codes as 027 129 015 (manual) and 027 129 015Q (automatic).
There's an extract from this datasheet plus a load of useful data here:
