seems a lot of money to reduce the risk of a stone chip on the windscreen. It's cheaper to pay the £70 windscreen excess and it avoids adding drag to the car.

Not quite what it is for. It is to reduce stone chips to the front edge of the bonnet.

A strip of vinyl would be much more effective and not add drag and be much cheaper! What a stupid invention!

If anyone is interested in a bonnet bra for a mk2 scirocco then you could widen your search by looking for a goof mk2 one. The leading edge of both bonnets are the same and the bra for both vehicles is the same.
Just a bit of useless info acquired from over the years!!
