Decellier dizzy dwell setting and fault finding

Post by scirocco_ne »

I have just found out that our dizzy has points and could need some setting up.

Does anyone know the dwell value for the mk2 on a decelier ?

I have a dwell meter built into our co tester so may as well get it bang on.

And i wanted to ask aswell Is there any other things to test beyond the vac advance on this unit? Any testing tips?

Im changing the cap and arm already.

Thanks

Mick

I may have been a tad presumptive anyway as i think the smaller engines have points but 1600 plus is not thankfully

Ill soon find out :)

Around 47 degrees according to Haynes if it has points (equivalent to 53%).

1979 ish is when VW stopped using points in dissys and switched to electronic ignition.

I used to have them in 1978 Mk1 but switched to Accuspark electronic ignition now...
