Afternoon,
My first post here and it's a question. I'm looking to buy my first Scirocco but the one I'm looking at has been sat for a few years and only recently back up and running with MOT etc. The guy has told me that when the fuel gets below 1/2 tank the car will struggle to run and then cut out. Above 1/2 tank and it's fine. Any ideas what might be causing this? The car is cheap enough that I can spend some money sorting this fault but I don't want to open a can of worms with it!
Cheers,
Sammo

Possibly holes in the filler neck so the tank is at a lower pressure than normal

Id say its more likely to be the fuel sender/ pick up in the tank that has a crack/leak so when fuel falls below it only sucks air in.Sammo wrote: ↑Sun Aug 19, 2018 4:03 pm Afternoon,

Each answer above is valid - depending on whether the car in question is injection or carburettor. What year/model/engine is it?

^^^^ what Mr Brown said... a little more info will help as the cars do differ from what year it is and type of fuel intake the engine has.

When I got mine I dropped the rear axle, gives you a chance to do all the brake pipes, put the flexy ones on first. I also cleaned the underside of the car and waxoyled it. Painted everything in sight and renewed everything as well. Most importantly the tank came out and I now possess what I call "Dip", (see Roger Rabbit if you're not sure), or time expired fuel. All the fuel lines were replaced along with a new filter.
