The River Blue MK 1 GLI on eBay go last week for £4K!
..
I seem to remember 3K was tops a few years ago for a very good one, and that one (on the bay) although low miles - needed a serious amount of work...?

I certainly wouldn't insure a rust-free and generally well-kept mk1 for less than £8k now. The dealers are always asking comfortably over £10k these days.

I did get my doner for £600 though.. the shell wasn’t great but interior and engine are spot on

It's back on e bay relisted at 4500 - obviously trying his luck! The other one at 8K looks a better bet.
