Can confirm that the MK1 Golf cap does fit, however, the plastic grip handles around the cap are far too large to site in the filler cap recess. After chopping them all off, it fits. Although, I must have bought a cheap nasty one, as the locking mechanism is garbage. I'm good for now, but if I find a better quality one which is smaller, I'll make a change.
