Basics.
52k miles, waxoyled from new, has had paint at some point, have a few cosmetic issues to deal with but it handled 237 miles on a snow avoidance M62/A1 route back to London from Bolton on Friday without missing a beat.
Now with the Phirm for a full checkover and fluid changes.
NO Sunroof!
Never had a stereo fitted by the look of things.
Plans - gradual, want to enjoy it in standard spec for now but the kbar from the other one will go on asap.
Have also retained the wheels, suspension, clear indicators and chromeless rear lights from FTL to (only maybe) be applied next year.

So did you plan it that way, sell one and then get another at the same time?
The car does look very tidy and well cared for.

It all happened v quickly Mark.
Spotted on the Friday three weeks ago - was heading to an old bosses funeral that day who had died suddenly. So, in the spirit of 'why not?' 'life is too short' I then...
Drove to Bolton next day to view - deal done that night.
Decided between GTL and the existing Mk1 in a 'sleep on it' basis - listed the Mk1 on Sunday night.
Verbal deal Monday pm on the Mk1 from a guy who is going to race it.
Picked up this one Friday - FTL due to be picked up Tuesday.

And it’s now got a scuttle tray too Mark.
Keeping the original one from ftl and assigning a Joost one to that car instead acquired from Mr Brown.

So - the car spent a week with the Phirm for a full checkover and oil/coolant/gearbox oil change.
There is a to do list - part of the fun for me tbh.
Today was the first time I've had to potter with it - sorted new boot struts and fitted the Momo Prototipo steering wheel.
It's missing the under dash panels - I'll be adding the ones retrieved from the old car.
There's been a few bodges and I've been spending some time on VW Classic Parts/VWH to secure a few essentials... full set of front bulb holders, a pair of new mirrors (I'm not comfortable with no near side mirror), heater valve, servo hose t piece.
In the medium term - fit the kbar, change rear bushes (or go full poly), ns track rod split, replace oil cooler mounts, change slightly noisy front bearings, sloppy rear box mounts (or go full new jetex) and I'll be swapping the toughened windscreen.
I'll then be upgrading the brake hoses and will get the rear cylinders/brake fluid changes at that time.
Wiper motor now working , no intermittent for some reason even with a new switch/arm.
It's got the wrong radiator and a complete bodge re. the return pipe.
Need to fit the chrome sill trims - some clips missing.
2018 is going to be busy!

First potter of 2018 after a trip to the local handwash last weekend and then a 90 minute blast on the Woldingham/A25/Westerham-ring followed by some photos for insurance valuation - got this one at £8k.
It's SO tall... this will have to be resolved - not helped by a boot load of bits including a set of coilovers...
A VERY late Mk1...
Mileage creeping up
A homage to it's month of registration and my favourite GP driver who won the Austrian GP 13 days after this car hit the road...
Proper keys
New oil cooler mounts
Still work to do - the coilovers asap along with the front bearings and other running gear as flagged - but a delight to drive, gradually loosening up after it's years of inactivity.

Looks great!!
My Scala had been sat for nearly 10 years, it feels really tight with no knocks or creaks, I do wonder if it will loosen up soon...

Looks good, your front wiper seems to 1/4 way up the screen, is that where it’s parked? Your passengers will be staring at the wiper arm when on the move?
