Lowering front spring cups..
Anyone got or used these?
Are they any good?
I’ve got Eibach Lowering Springs, Bilstein Gas Shocks but find the front still a little high so thinking this may help reduce the gap between my tyre and wheel arch.

Or these...

I did look at these but rather pricey and also found out they will hit the bonnet if fitted to a Mk1 Scirocco, good idea for a Mk1 golf.

Re: Lowering front spring cups..
what bilstein shocks are you running?
if you reduce the travel on the shock any more than the eibachs allready do arent you at risk of botteming out?

I’ve got this kit.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Eibach-Loweri ... 0033.m2042
I’ve still got 60mm between the wheel arch and tyre and my wishbones are still horizontal so still plenty of room to drop it a bit more.

Re: Lowering front spring cups..
thats interesting.
ive got the same setup and i had to raise mine 25mm to get the wishbones level and to the same height as yours.
it was also to stop the shocks bottoming out on the rubbish south brum roads.
did you say these were fitted to a mk1?
maybe the mk1 is quite a bit lighter and thats why its sitting higher?
i would say the spring tops would be the best way to go, i raised mine up that way so theyres no reason you couldnt lower them in the same fashion.
just keep an eye on how much usable shock length you have when its back on the ground.

Re: Lowering front spring cups..
Yes it’s a Mk1, little 1.6 carb feed car so perhaps it’s a little lighter than a Mk2. I did park mine next the Keith’s mk1 storm/Gti at the national meet and you could see his was lower even with the same suspension kit fitted, he did mention the position of the lower spring cups could be different on GLS struts so I measured mine to the Mk1 Golf Gti I have and they are in the same place so that ruled out that idea...
I’ve gone and bought some so will let you all know how I get on.
For £25 delivered it’s worth a go.
